Art for Darfur

Art for Darfur was so great. I hope more people can join us next year. The painting was purchased that I donated by a wonderful young man who spends a lot of his time and energies to help these troubled countries by designing and building schools for them in his spare time( which I am sure he does not have much of )but he really gives back.
Truly- I am so pleased to have him own this piece of art. So wonderful.

Easter Sunday

Great day this Easter Sunday. Nice, cool and rainy.

The girls were here for brunch. We cooked together and had laughs and shared .

Its Lacey's last year before A&M so I wanted it special and it was.

I am about to head into my art room to paint.

By the way- I just received a letter from the 24th Texas & Neighbors art Exhibition and I have been selected as one of 14 award winners out of the 81 Juried into the show. This competition was I think between 5 states and almost 400 artist. I feel very very grateful and super happy to have been chosen.

We get the awards on Sunday the 26th. I will up date you later.

I am attaching a new painting I did over lent.

Happy Easter:

Childrens short stories

I started a few paintings last week- one of a cow and another of a pony. I was working with a new medium, which I had never used before. Its ink and then some overlays of acrylic and then some oil. Very interesting. They both turned out very child like so I am going to use them with my children's short stories. Let me know what you think?
Have a wonderfully creative day.

Nylo Hotel---Roxie's Artwork of Fire Storm

Nylo Hotel ---
If you are in Coppell - look at the Coppell Gazette Star-today.
I am on the front page thanks to Nylo and Jim Kilpatrick- staff writer.
Enjoy the article--
Nylo Hotel and The Company is really terrific , I met several people that work with Nylo and make it the wonderful Boutique Hotel that it is and will be in the future. A great group of young innovative minds for sure. The newest Hotel is at Mac Arthur/Royal Ln. in Las Colinas. It should be finished mid- July they say.
I will let you know.
My featured work for them is " Fire Storm", Mustang horses . They have also featured many other Texas artist that are super talented so please make sure you get to visit this Hotel in the summer of 09.

Keller Gallery- Art Party

Lloyd and I read about a new - up and coming artist center / Uptown in Keller a few weeks ago and decided to take a small road trip from Coppell to Keller and what a wonderful surprise. Its off of Southlake Blvd. - we took 114 to Southlake , turned left and went for miles past all the shops in Southlake and ended up in the quaint town of Keller.
The uptown is directly across from Town Center has has totally unique shops and Art Galleries.
Liz is the owner of Art Party - a great place for local artist to show their work. She was nice enough to invite me to join her Gallery last week--- so please come and take a look-see. She has some really great artist that are showing in her Gallery as well.
Take the time to go out one day or a weekend with the family and shop -- you will find some wonderfully unique gifts and art for really great prices. Fun, Fun, Fun.

Going Green

These are some of the recyled wine bottles I have been designing. Some are for sale at Corbon's Christian Gift Store here in Coppell and some are at Art Party in Keller.

Tuscany Hillside

This is one of my newest paintings. I love the flow of colors and the soft movement across the landscape. It was really fun to do especially using the different sizes of palette knifes.

New work

Well, spring is here. Along with all the pollen.
Lloyd and I worked in the garden most of the day.
I am still working on a few paintings , I really need to finish these before creating another.
I am looking out the window from my desk and looking at the beautiful pink buds on my peach tree. We purchased a blackberry -vine yesterday . Lacey my daughter wanted to have fresh berries this summer- she loves blackberries.
Its cloudy today and windy. I think I will stay in and work on getting paintings finished and starting another painting from a sketch I did over the weekend of my cousin Geoff, Mr. Comedian now. I can't wait to do this for him.
Have a wonderful day and enjoy all of Gods blessings. Take time with family- its so important.
Until next time- see ya!

Agony In the Garden

This painting is one I did in a fast amount of time and have never been able to duplicate it again. The creative energy I had while painting this was incredible and was given to me as a great gift.
This painting is on board and painted in oils.
It is 24/30. Prints will be available with-in the next few weeks.
I am keeping the original. I love it and cannot part with it.
Yesterday was Super Bowl Sunday. I was tired from the week before -setting up for a large garage sale on Sat. and working everyday and late into the nights on art. I decided I needed a nap (which I seldom take) before entertaining guest for the big game.
I laid down and closed my eyes for only a few minutes when all of the sudden images started appearing , coming to me fast, in color and very specific. After several images it stopped. I was not asleep so it was not a dream and I promise I am not going crazy (maybe be a little off but not crazy) Ha! I can only attribute it to a spiritual connection of creativity being shown to me for a reason. I went into my studio after napping 30 Min's or so and told my husband I had to get a few images and designs down that were shown to me while I rested. I have to tell you these images and the designs are fantastic. I can't wait to finish them and I will show you all after I am done.
All I can tell you is that if you are an artist and it is your passion- keep doing it everyday. Your art will become what it needs to become and your spirit will soar. I know this has only happened to me because I have been 24/7 in this creative mode and worked everyday and hours on end at my art. That is when things come to you creatively and spiritually.Another Blessing.
I am going to try and post every few days and hopefully I will be finished so I can share some of the new work with you.
Have a wonderful day !
